五軸マシニングセンター

For machining centers comprising 3 stride axes, the X, Y, and Z-axis, the manufacturing approach is limited to the work’s surface due to machine structure. For this reason, when carrying out complex manufacturing, which contains a multitude of angle information, it becomes necessary to first create a jig tool to lean the work, and clamp and unclamp the work multiple times during the manufacturing process. In comparison to 5-axis machining centers, these machining center have weaknesses, including the fact that they “do not maintain precision angle calculations,” “require program alterations,” and “require an index jig.” In contrast, the 5-axis machining center, comprising 5-axes, can approach from any angle.? As such,? one can manufacture products without clamping multiple manufacturing surfaces using one-chuck, and thus reducing the amount of precision variation of each product.? Furthermore, the fact that this machining center can manufacture multiple surfaces with the minimal amount of jig tools contributes greatly to consolidation of work amount and production cost reduction.

The DMU50 is a 5-axis control vertical machining center developed by the company DMG in Germany, the advanced nation for 5-axis, and is a simply constructed machine with 3 axis, X, Y, Z on the spindle side and two axis B, C, on the side of the table. This equipment specializes in job shop type production for fewer than 100 products per month.

In the field of job shop production, where various material properties and shapes must be agilely dealt with, over a 1,000 varieties of edged tools are necessary. This greatly affects tool management system set up time. Our company has pre-stocked and assigned each of about 500 tools, set up according to material property, utility, and machine, with a management number. We have created a system whereby the operator can start production directly upon picking out the most pertinent tool and equipping the machine. We aim for no manufacturing errors, always preparing to be able to cope agilely with “job shop production,” and “individual prototype manufacturing.” We look forward to doing business with you.

CAD CAM

CAD CAM is a computer software that can provide direct manufacturing directions (CAM) from the drafted (CAD) data. Using this software lead to many advantages, which include:

? Creation of a program for even complex forms in a short time;
? Prior creation of programs can be stocked;
? Manufacturing know-how can be recorded in a database;
? Data can be created without concerning the control unit; and
? Accidents can be prevented through prior simulations of the machines movements.

Increasing program creating speed is the key to improving manufacturing efficiency in order to stably carry out job shop production, which comprises the majority of our business’s program creation time. For this reason, our company uses several types of CADCAM, each with unique characteristics, aiming to reduce creation time.

2D CAD CAM

Even now when 3D CADCAM has become mainstream, the simple program creation possible with 2D CADCAM is the ideal software for the creation of programs for 2D forms. Using this software, we create the program for machining centers/composite lathes.


CAMTUS Tamago WIN

This allows for the creation of a program in a short amount of time, because it allows for the simplification of input items, when manufacturing 2d forms such as pockets, contours, or wholes. However, because programming for complex forms requires that each manufacturing point be identified, input becomes difficult and results in a longer time required for data creation. Furthermore, because changes in number of revolutions, feed speed, cutting depth depending on materials and machine tools can be stored as know-how in the database, this reduces the wide variations in caliber of each operator.

3D CAD CAM

The 3D CAD CAM is a software that has, in addition to the functions of the 2D CAD CAM, the ability to create manufacturing directions for free-form surface forms. The 3d CADCAM, with the majority of information contained within the CAD, makes it possible to manufacture complex forms by recognizing the form and automatically changing it into manufacturing data while avoiding interference. However, in contrast to the 2d CAD CAM, this software takes time to create programs for even simple forms due to the greater amount of input data required. Our company uses 3D CAD CAM for program creation for 5-axis manufacturing and complex 3D forms.


OPENMIND hyper MILL

This is a German 3D CAD CAM developed with 5-axis manufacturing as its target. Joining together feature recognition functions and macro functions, this allows for the creation of 5-axis programs that have the same feel as 3-axis programs. Furthermore, because the software has a high compatibility with heidenhain control units, the time required for program creation and editing is greatly reduced and more complex manufacturing becomes possible.

The feature recognition function automatically perceives spatially vector orientation and location information for elements of 3d forms, such as planes, curved surfaces forms, pocked forms, and holes on multifaceted forms. This enables operators to cut angles without having to create imagined surfaces inside unseen spaces.

The macro function simplifies work by compiling manufacturing instruction commands into sets in advance. There are many sets of commands that one might want to indicate together, for example, “rough manufacturing → pre-finishing manufacturing → finishing manufacturing” or “Center → hole punching → beveling → tap manufacturing.” Classifying these commands together into categories and into patterns decreases program creation time drastically and makes it possible to manufacture single items using the 5-axis machining center.

UNISYS CADmeister

CADmeister is a hybrid 3D CAD that allows you to model freely without feeling a difference between wireframe, surface or solid. Furthermore, when form change accompanies design change, this program allows you to edit only portions without destroying the entire form, making it possible to decrease prototype modeling time significantly. We use this for 3D modeling, mechanical design, and assembly.

Hexagon Metrology Group DiscoveryⅡ

This is Hexagon Metrology group’s Sheffield-manufactured CNC 3D measuring machine. This machine takes precise measurements by the products directly with its stylus. The control unite is a PC-DMIS. Because this machine has a direct 3DCAD measurement function, which can directly indicate measurement points from 3D CAD, there is no need for a complex program. For this reason, it can provide precise measurements in a short amount of time. Furthermore, because it is CNC controlled, one only has to recall the program to automatically measure repeat products.
